Little Company of Mary offers the most complete range of treatments for prostate cancer in the state, including:
Laparoscopic Robotic da Vinci® Prostatectomy
We are one of the only hospitals in the area using the da Vinci surgical system for prostate cancer surgery. This minimally invasive approach lets us perform complex procedures on the prostate with greater precision and clarity for a highly effective treatment with improved function, less pain, easier recovery and a quicker return to normal activities. Advanced Radiation Therapy
We offer the latest in radiation treatments including intensity
modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). Using detailed computer-generated images, these technologies help us plan and deliver tightly focused radiation beams to destroy tumors with less damage to surrounding healthy tissue, causing you less pain and side effects.
Radioactive Prostate Implants
As one of the only hospitals in Illinois to offer both low and high dose radioactive seed implants, we're able to fight even the most advanced prostate cancer. By placing small amounts of radioactive material into cancerous tissues within the prostate, we can
accurately deliver high doses of radiation while reducing exposure to healthy tissue. High dose rate (HDR) implants involve treating the prostate with temporary radioactive catheters to maximize results while minimizing your side effects. Patients quickly leave the
hospital and are back to normal function in a few days.
Cryotherapy
We are one of the leading hospitals in the area in the use of
cryotherapy to treat and offer potential long-term remission of
prostate cancer. Using needles right at the precise point of the cancer, we can freeze and destroy tumors and prevent them from spreading to the rest of the body. Because cryotherapy is not major surgery, patients recover faster with less pain and quickly return to normal life.
